Description

To become an Archer you need a Novice at job level 10 with all Basic Skills learned. The class change happens at the archer guild in Payon. Instead of a fight, you gather: collect various Trunk items dropped by Willow trees, since bows are made from them. Each trunk type is worth a number of grade points; bring enough and you get the job, a bow and some arrows for the road.

Walkthrough

First level your Novice to job level 10 and learn all the Basic Skills — the guild won't take you otherwise.
Head to Payon and enter the archer guild building on map payon_in02; find the NPC Archer Guildsman at coordinates 64, 71.
Pick "I want to be an Archer" and sign the application — the guildsman adds you to the candidate list.
Go hunt the Willow trees near Payon and collect Trunk items; they drop several kinds of trunks of varying quality.
Each type gives points: Fine-grained Trunk gives 5, Solid Trunk gives 3, Barren Trunk gives 2, and a plain Trunk gives 1. You need at least 25 points out of 40 in total.
Return to the Archer Guildsman and choose "I want to be an Archer" again so he can appraise the trunks you brought.
If your total is 25 or more, the guildsman takes the trunks and changes your job to Archer on the spot.
Collect your reward: a Bow and a bundle of Arrow (the number of arrows depends on the quality of the trunks you handed in).
