Doomed Swords Quest
Doomed Swords is a chain about forging cursed blades that a legendary recluse smith once made under duress before hiding in the mountains. It is not a single weapon but a set: Grimtooth, Mysteltainn or Executioner, and which one finally manifests is decided by chance at the end. Talking to Ghatu in Prontera (prt_in 162,11) only gives the backstory; the actual forging runs through three other smiths, each demanding rare cards, ores and drops to complete his section of the unsealing pentagram.
Mr. Smile
Mr. Smile is the beloved cheap smiley mask that is easy to craft right at the start of the game. The Smile Assistance NPC runs King Tristram the 3rd's nationwide "smile event": bring a few stacks of common loot from the earliest monsters and get a finished headgear. The NPC stands in several towns, so you can visit whichever one is closest.
Monster Tamer (Pets)
Monster Tamer Iwado in Alberta helps you get a pet companion. This is less a linear quest and more a taming workshop: the NPC crafts rare Taming items (lures) in exchange for the right materials. The pet mechanic itself is simple: get the Taming item for a specific monster, keep Pet Food on you, and use the item directly on that monster. With a bit of luck, it becomes your companion.
Juice Maker
Juice Maker is a simple workshop where an NPC turns fruit into handy juices. Bring a fruit, an Empty Bottle and a few zeny, and you get a Juice that restores SP. These juices are great for caster classes and especially for Creator/Alchemist as a cheap field mana source. The price is tiny (3 zeny per bottle), so you can churn out juice by the stack.
Wizard Job Change
Job change from Mage to Wizard. To start the trials you need a Mage at job level 40+ with no unspent skill points. Everything happens atop the tower in Geffen: Catherine takes your application, and the gloomy examiner Raulel tests your knowledge and combat skill. The trial has three parts — gathering magic items, a written exam, and a practical battle through three elemental rooms. If you are job level 50, you skip one of the parts.
Thief Job Change
The change to Thief happens in the thieves' guild, in the basement beneath Morocc. First the Thief Guide registers you, then sets your test: gather two kinds of mushrooms from a rival's farm. Each Orange Net Mushroom is worth 3 points and each Orange Gooey Mushroom 1 point; you need at least 25 points to pass. A classic pre-renewal quest with no combat trial, just a bit of dungeon-crawling and item gathering.
Taekwon Job Change
Taekwon is an expanded melee class that fights with fists and feet instead of weapons. Unlike ordinary jobs, only a Novice who has grown a little can become a Taekwon: you need Job Level 9 and a base level higher than the one you had when the trial began. Your teacher is Phoenix in payon (157, 141). The quest is short and built around a spiritual trial — a series of questions about your character — rather than fetching items. Later, Taekwon opens the path to Star Gladiator or Soul Linker.
Swordman Job Change
This is the job change quest for Swordman, the best melee fighter among the First Classes. It suits Novices who want a sturdy fighter with high HP and a wide weapon selection. The Swordman NPC is in the Swordman Association in Izlude, map izlude_in (74, 172). You don't hand over any items — you just need to reach Novice job level 10 and clear the obstacle test.
Sage Job Change
The Sage job change is the second advanced class of the Mage line. A Sage blends magic with scholarship: studying elements, reading an enemy's gear, and striking with elemental weapon attacks. To become one you enroll at the Schweicherbil Magic Academy in Juno, pass a written entrance exam, complete practical classes with the professors, and write your own dissertation. You need Mage job level 40+. No pay-to-win here — just knowledge and a handful of gathered items.
Rogue Job Change
The Rogue job change is the second advancement path for a Thief. You first meet a gloomy Thug in Morocc who hints at the Rogue Guild, but the real work happens at the guild beneath Paros Lighthouse (map in_rogue). You need a Thief at job level 40+: first a written quiz from Markie, then an entrance fee and a long shopping list collected for the rude Mr. Smith, and finally a password and short training under one of the "Junior" mentors. Succeed and you become a Rogue and receive a Gladius dagger.
Priest Job Change
The Priest job change is the second branch for an Acolyte. The trial is run by Bishop Paul in the Prontera church (prt_church). To apply you need an Acolyte at job level 40+ with all skill points spent. The path has three trials: a pilgrimage to three ascetic priests, spiritual training (a timed fight against the undead), and an oath of devotion to God.
Ninja Job Change
Ninja is an expanded class that you advance to straight from Novice at job level 10 (not from a First Class). It is its own branch with unique skills: elemental magic, thrown kunai and shuriken, and the Ninja Aura technique. The quest starts in Alberta with the mysterious Akagi, leads through Amatsu to the Doga clan, and has you shuttle between Amatsu and Einbroch, reconcile two rival 'Joes', and gather a few materials. As a reward you become a Ninja and receive a starter kunai weapon.
