The six stats and what they do
In pre-renewal (ep11.2) every character has six base stats. Each one drives its own group of characteristics, so understanding them is the foundation of any build on uaRO.
- STR — physical melee attack and the weight you can carry.
- AGI — attack speed (ASPD) and evasion (FLEE) to avoid getting hit.
- VIT — HP pool, physical defense and resistance to status effects (poison, stun and so on).
- INT — SP pool, magic attack (MATK) and a bit of magic defense.
- DEX — accuracy (HIT), spell cast time and attack for ranged/bow combat.
- LUK — critical chance, a small bonus to accuracy and evasion, and resistance to some status effects.
Why stats cost more as they grow
Raising stats costs stat points, and the higher a stat is, the more expensive it gets to push it one point further. The cost of the next point follows the principle floor(stat/10)+2. So at low values a point is cheap, but near 90+ a single point eats a large chunk of your points.
The takeaway is simple: spreading points thinly across all six stats is wasteful. It is better to invest heavily in one or two key stats than a little into everything.
What a build is
A build is a deliberate distribution of stats (and skills) for a specific role. Instead of an even spread, you emphasize whatever gives your class the most value. Common directions include:
- ASPD agi — leaning on AGI for frequent hits and high FLEE.
- Vanilla VIT tank — heavy VIT for HP and survival inside a pack of mobs.
- MATK mage — focus on INT for strong magic and a deep SP pool.
- Crit LUK — lots of LUK so crits ignore the enemy's defense and FLEE.
Key stats in more detail
Some stats matter to almost everyone, so it helps to know their weight:
- DEX is often underrated: it grants HIT (without accuracy you simply miss) and shortens cast time, which is critical for mages and anyone who casts.
- AGI decides how fast you attack (ASPD) and how often you dodge (FLEE), the core of melee DPS builds.
- VIT turns your character into a wall: more HP, physical defense and resistance to nasty status effects.
- INT is the heart of any caster: MATK plus the SP pool to keep from running dry mid-fight.
Plan around your profession
The same stat is worth very different amounts to different classes. An archer needs DEX, a knight wants STR and VIT, a mage leans on INT and DEX, and a thief often favors AGI or LUK. Before spending points, settle on your profession and your role in a party — it saves you a painful re-stat later.
Beginner tip: do not be afraid to make a few mistakes early, but keep a plan at least for your next job changes.
Where to go next
Numbers are easier to grasp in practice. Use the character calculator and the mechanics reference on the site to estimate how your stats affect ASPD, HIT, FLEE and MATK before you ever spend a point in game.
